The Capital Pulse

The Capital Pulse: our methodology, published before our first number

The Capital Pulse is Try Business Loan's planned quarterly report of aggregate statistics drawn from our own first-party funding-request data: what small businesses ask for, why, how urgently, and how that changes over time. No edition has been published yet. We are publishing the rules first, on purpose, so that when the numbers arrive you can hold us to the standard we set before we had anything to gain from bending it.

The rules we bind ourselves to

  • First-party data only: every statistic comes from funding requests submitted directly on this site with the submitter's consent, under the privacy policy in effect at submission. We do not buy, scrape, or blend third-party lead data into our figures.
  • Aggregates only, with a hard sample floor: no published figure is ever based on fewer than one hundred underlying requests, and every figure states its sample size and time window next to the number.
  • Geography stops at the state level. We never publish city-level, ZIP-level, or any cut fine enough to point at an individual business.
  • No individual submissions, ever: no names, no businesses, no quotes from intake answers, nothing traceable to one company.
  • Partner information is out of scope: partner criteria, economics, and performance are confidential and will not appear in any edition.
  • Corrections and revisions are disclosed in the edition that makes them, and any change to this methodology is dated on this page before it applies.
  • Every edition is reviewed, including legal review, before it publishes.

What the underlying data is

Our guided intake asks each business a short, structured set of questions, already disclosed in our Privacy Policy: industry, state, funding amount range, use of funds, urgency, time in business, monthly revenue range, and a self-reported credit range. Because every request answers the same questions the same way, the dataset is consistently structured from the first submission, which is what makes honest aggregation possible.

When the first edition arrives

The first edition publishes when the sample floor is genuinely met, and not before. Until then, this page is the standing commitment. If you are a journalist, researcher, or partner who wants to be notified when the first edition ships, reach us through the contact page.
